School Administration of Bamberg To the Jewish Community of Bamberg Re: Crafts classes at the Jewish special school. Bamberg, 6 April 1938 According to the Ministry's regulation No. II 60 201 of 23 December 1937, Aryan teachers may no longer be employed in Jewish educational institution. This applies in the case of Maria Huther, a crafts teacher employed by the Jewish special school in Bamberg. She will end her activity at the school by the end of the school year. The Jewish community is to submit the names of suitable Jewish crafts teachers to the School administration as soon as possible. Teachers with diplomas should be considered as first priority. Only if there are none are others to be considered. The application will be conveyed to the government, so that crafts lessons will be held from the beginning of the next school year.
Document 2: Letter of the Jewish Community to the City School Administration.
11 April 1938 To the City School Administration. Bamberg Re: Crafts classes at the Jewish special school. I have received your letter of 6 April and acknowledge that a Jewish teacher will have to replace the present crafts teacher, Maria Huther. I am unable to propose a Jewish crafts teacher who has a diploma, but apply for government approval for the employment of the widow Elisabeth Awrach, who is very suitable for the position. I warmly recommend her. Mrs. Awrach, after having seen the demands of the crafts courses, assured me that she was fully qualified to teach the female students all that is included in the school curriculum.
